Michael Appleman: President/CEO & Treasurer/CFO

Michael has been a burn survivor since May 1998. During his recovery, Michael decided to help other burn survivors and family members find their new path in life. In 2001, Michael Appleman founded Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc . Michael has a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology.

Nguyen Thi Dieu Tran: Vice President

Ms. Tran is a burn survivor from Viet Nam. Ms. Tran started working with BSTTW in August 2001 as our Vietnamese Representative. With all the hard work and accomplishments, Ms. Tran was asked and accepted the BSTTW Board of Directors Vice President Position and the BSTTW Director - Viet Nam position.

Nguyen Cong Thien: Secretary/COO

Cong Thien's cousin suffered a burn injury. That issue gave Cong Thien the reason to start helping other individuals who suffer a burn injury. He volunteered with BSTTW and has worked very hard in Viet Nam and all of Asia. Cong Thien is the top BSTTW Representative in Viet Nam and works directly under Nguyen Thi Dieu Tran. Cong Thien was a very important part of the first BSTTW Medical Internship Program that took place at the French-Vietnamese Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.

Ariel Gonzalez: Member at Large

For many years Ariel was a teacher and worked with the Mexican government. In 1997, Ariel suffered a severe burn injury. He was not able to be treated in Mexico and was transported to Texas, USA. After his recovery, Ariel decided to help others. In 2002, Ariel started as a BSTTW Representative in Mexico. Then in 2003 Ariel wrote the music and produced the BSTTW Music CD in Mexico and the USA. The music, offers encouragement to burn survivors and helps them to find the strength to reach their goals. Also in 2003 Ariel became the BSTTW Director - Mexico. In 2004, Ariel took the board of directors Member at Large position. Ariel’s knowledge and understanding for our youth is helping BSTTW to grow and assist the youth who suffer a burn injury.
