Tina S. Alster, M.D. is the founder and director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery. This was
the first comprehensive laser surgery and skin care facility in North America.
Dr. Alster is the author of numerous medical textbooks, journal articles, and books for the public. She is internationally
know for the advancement of laser surgery for several types of scars including burn scars. Her work in the field has been honored by her
peers by her selection as the third-ever recipient of the Leon Goldman Lectureship Award conferred by the American Society of Laser Medicine
and Surgery. Dr. Alster us also a public speaker on cosmetic procedures, dermatology isssues and laser surgery. She has been heard on radio
health news broadcasting and has appeared on 20/20, Dateline NBC, Oprah, The Today Show and many others.
Dr. Alster is highly recommended for laser treatment. She is talented, caring and well educated. Dr. Alster has been
working with Burn Survivors to help rebuild their lives. By working on their physical appearance, Dr. Alster has also helped to stabilize many
Burn Survivors emotions.
Dr. Alster is a Clinical Assistant Professor at both Georgetown University and Harvard University. She is an active
member of numerous national and international medical organizations, including being a honorary member of the Brazilian Laser Society. In
addition, she serves on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and on the Editorial Board of several
