Ten months after suffering a burn injury, with the help of Church of The Holy Spirit, I was able to get in contact with Goodwill and get an interview to rent a disabled ready apartment. During the first year that I was rebuilding my life, I began to offer help to the burn survivor community. In 2001, I founded Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc. (BSTTW). After 2 1/2 years of rehabilitation, I was able to get off my electric wheelchair and walk again.
