Commonly Used Burn Dressings
Neosporin:
BSTTWTranslationsThis is a clear antibiotic ointment commonly used on facial burns.
Silver Sulfadiazine: (Thermazene, Silvadene)
This is a white antibiotic cream used to thoroughly cover the wound. Many Burn Survivors say that they receive a cooling effect after the application.
Sulfamylon:
This anti-infective cream is white, and is used on deep burns, particularly electrical burns. It has the ability to penetrate further into the injured tissue.
Travase (or other enzymatic debriders):
An enzyme used to dissolve dead tissue.
Other Burn Dressings:
As time progresses and your wounds heal, various other burn dressings may be needed. The goals are the same: Prevent infection alnd promote healing with as little discomfort as possible.
