Marianne is Coming Home

By: Michael Appleman

On May 25, 1999 it happened
Life for the family changed
The fire it started
And my Mommy got the flames
Parts of her body took the beating
But alive she remained
The family was not together
Only a few did remain
While this young boys Mother
Was away fighting for her life
The family did everything
Not to give up their fight
The ones who could not accept
Are invited to share a very important night
For Marianne recovery is not over
The love will help her fight
The tears this time they will be sharing
With enjoyment for all
Happens when they see
Marianne being rolled up and comes through the door.

The Body That Remains Home

By: Michael Appleman

By becoming and meeting so many Burn Survivors
I saw the change of our skin
The loss of bones, muscles and ligaments
Also burns to the roots of the nerves and hair
But in so many I found
That love and true friendship was there.
