Back on June 25, 2010, Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc. (BSTTW),

from this point on known as BSTTW, received an email from Christine Jurus the Program Coordinator for the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Inc.. Ms. Jurus informed BSTTW that we must remove our internet site, http://www.burnsurvivorsttw.org/wbc/wbc.html.

With this web site BSTTW helps to inform the burn survivor community and the public worldwide about the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress and tells how you can donate to the BSTTW World Burn Congress Fund so BSTTW can help all burn survivors and family members attend the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress. Ms. Jurus stated in her email that if this was not completed by June 28, 2010 the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Inc. will take legal action against BSTTW. It is very sad that the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Inc. does not appreciate nonprofit organizations like BSTTW who raise money and help burn survivors and family members attend the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Inc.'s yearly Phoenix Society World Burn Congress.

Zietlow from Clark Hill, PLC that the Phoenix Society is the owner of a Federally registered trademark for "World Burn Congress" and they do not want BSTTW to continue raising money to help people attend the

As the founder and CEO I am sorry to inform the public that BSTTW will no longer raise money to help anyone attend the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress. This is due to the fact that the Phoenix Society For Burn Survivors, Inc. has informed BSTTW through an attorney Mark H. Zietlow from Clark Hill, PLC that the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Inc. is the owner of a Federally registered trademark for "World Burn Congress" and they do not want BSTTW to continue informing the public that they are raising money to help people attend the yearly Phoenix Society World Burn Congress. The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Inc. feels that BSTTW might be illegally using

their trademark to raise money. It is a shame that all BSTTW is doing is trying to raise funding so burn survivors and family members can attend the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress. We are not trying to take anything away from The Phoenix Society World Burn Congress or the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Inc..

As a burn survivor I know how important it was for people to attend the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress during my initial recovery period. During that time I attentd the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress several times before and after I founded Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc. . I met so many burn survivors and I gathered so much information at the event. During the first Phoenix Society World Burn Congress I attended, I was very happy to meet Alan Breslau. Alan was meeting burn survivors at the lobby of the hotel. I entered the hotel in an electric wheelchair. When Alan saw me, he came over, introduced himself and began to ask me questions and offer his friendship and support. Alan and his wife helped me enter the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress and not feel alone. I met so many others at that event. One gentleman helped me get my food at breakfast because the left side of body did not due to several strokes. This gentleman did not have all of his fingers due to his burn injury. He did not allow that to stop his life. He learned during rehabilitation how to continue on with life without them. I learned from this gentleman, from Alan and other burn survivors I met that life was not over. This helped me to find the strength needed to return home and move forward in my recovery. This is why I am so sorry to say that due to the threats made to Burn Survivors Throughout The

World, Inc. by the Phoenix Society For Burn Survivors, Inc., also know as the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress, Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc. will no longer raise money for anyone to attend the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress.

I spoke with Mr. Zietlow by telephone and asked him if something can be done in order for Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc. and the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress to

collaborate. On July 21, 2010 Mr. Zietlow informed Michael Appleman, CEO of BSTTW that the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Inc. would like BSTTW to remove the URL, https://www.burnsurvivorsttw.org/wbc/wbc.html and stop using the name "World Burn Congress".

I and the BSTTW board of directors must painfully state that Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc. will no longer have the BSTTW World Burn Congress Fund, and any new articles, pictures, movies, or stories on our internet site, newsletters, ebooks or any other BSTTW materials relating to the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress. We are also sorry to state that due to the actions taken by the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Inc. and the Phoenix Society World Burn Congress, Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc. is unable to show you what was stated in the internet page https://www.burnsurvivorsttw.org/wbc/wbc.html

Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc. will continue to help burn survivors, family members and increasing fire safety education. Our organization is currently looking on collaborating with other organizations, corporations, governments, burn units, doctors, pharmaceutical companies, Fire Marshalls, burn survivors and camps in the USA and around the world in order to continue helping the current and future burn survivors and family members rebuild their lives and to lower the number of fires, deaths and burn injuries.
