BSTTW
Translations

So many Burn Survivors suffer from Contractures. This is the shortening of scar tissue. It causes an otherwise normal joint to remain inflexible. That inflexibility results in a lack of motion. Contracture causes an individual to go through emotional and physical pain. The individual also needs to have physical therapy and pressure garments.

Pressure Garments

Pressure Garments or elastic bandages are used to provide continual and equal pressure over your healed burn. This is done to help reduce the development of irregular scarring and deformity.

  1. Ace Bandages are used initially as a pressure wrap.
  2. Tubular Pressure Bandages are "Sock" type bandages that are used when wounds are mostly healed.
  3. Interim Care Garments are pre-made garments used for pressure until custom-made garments are available (not all Burn Survivor needs these).
  4. Custom-made Garments are made from elastic fabric form precise measurements of your involved area (not all Burn Survivors need these). This pressure garment is to be worn 23 hours a day to provide best possible, continuous pressure.
